Building a Working Bibliography

The last chapter explained the ways in which scholarly literature in the field of medieval history is published. These methods have become so numerous that it seems, at first glance, to be an overwhelming task to orient oneself. But don t worry - the scope of the scholarly literature you will need to find also depends on your project. An undergraduate essay, even for a senior seminar, does not need to be as thoroughly researched as a formal academic thesis. Basically you should know a number of methods for finding appropriate scholarly literature. Some of them will be presented in this chapter.
